ONE day I got a DM on Instagram, and of course I did my private investigation and we only had 1 friend in common. I reach out she reminded me of the date she had with him and they didn't click 2 yrs prior. She said he was nice but not her vibe and for me to meet up and see for myself. Well me being my happily single self chatted with him for a bit. Mostly about his gross dark beers while he was traveling and things we liked to do. I was really just doing my own thing and was ok with nothing more. Fast forward about a year later he popped back up. Still the same little conversations I was still living my best single life. This time we exchanged numbers and chatted a little more and again friend said just meet him and see. I think 2 months later after a day of Bday celebrations for another friend he texted and I said we'll you have to come meet me here (he lived in Fife) and he did. For me I wasn't looking or wanting anything serious at all. So I was not ready to "kinda like' anyone at all. The next day I called said friend after a day of Kayaking with friends and said yeah im not sure yet.
We continued to hang out and 3 months later the we were going to Idaho (thanks covid) for my bday to dance and take the kids to Silverwood. Well one night the bestie invited him π€¦πΎββοΈ at this point I still had not introduced him to the girls. I told him if the older one doesn't like you, then you're out! We'll they clicked and ended up having a freaking wing eating contest π. So not only are we all traveling together but all staying in the same house together. Minus me getting lost we had a blast.
We learned as we looked for hikes that we were a in a few of the same hiking groups and never hiked together. We have so much in common that we always are on the go. I not only found my person but my favorite adventure parter you can ask for 5 yrs later.
What a amazing journey we have shared! Itβs amazing how unexpected connections can lead to such enriching experiences. It's great what happens when you initially approached the situation with a laid-back attitude, and that openness allowed your relationship to grow naturally. From being intentionally single, starting as friends to becoming adventure partners and creating memories together.
Traveling together, discovering shared interests, and even involving the girls in our adventures adds a wonderful layer (good and bad) to our relationship. Here's to many more exciting adventures and memories ahead!
